There are many different non-player characters, or NPCs, that are controlled by the game instead of other players. They can greatly aid you in your travels throughout Sarnaut by providing various services. For example, there are merchants who buy and sell items, archetype trainers that offer various archetype-related services, many NPCs that offer quests for you to do, and numerous NPCs that you can kill. Many NPCs are friendly or neutral. Friendly NPCs will not attack you and you won't be able to attack them. Neutral NPCs will not attack you, but you can sometimes attack them. However, attacking them will cause them to attack you in return. Friendly and neutral NPCs that you cannot attack can sometimes be interacted with in other ways. Many will talk to you or sell and buy items. You can interact with them by simply right-clicking on them. There are also many hostile NPCs called monsters. They will attack you if you get too close to them. However, if you manage to kill a monster you will be rewarded with experience. Sometimes you can gather items from a monster's corpse as well. To gather the items you can right-click on the bag that appears near their corpse and then left-click on the items that appear. Sarnaut was once a thriving and peaceful planet. It had several continents, multiple climates, and a wide range of magnificent creatures. Many distinct civilizations rose and fell throughout the years, such as the kingdom of the Zem, the Elven kingdom of Airin, and the kingdom of the June. The Conclave of the Great Mages was one of the most powerful groups in the world. Though bound by the Rules of the Conclave, they had access to arcane lore that made them capable of amazing feats. In the year 3029 of the Old Era the Great Mage Skrakan became the leader of the Conclave. He began to apprentice a number of mages, two of which became his most prodigious pupils - Tensess and Nezeb. Together, Tensess and Nezeb led a nomadic tribe known as the Aro. They brought them to the ruins of the June kingdom which had disappeared hundreds of years earlier due to a mysterious curse. Among the ruins the Aro waged war with the native Orcish tribes, and under the Great Mages' leadership the Aro were victorious. Thus, the Aro tribe founded what eventually became the Kanian kingdom. With the demons almost completely annihilated, the League and the Empire's new leaders quickly resumed the animosity between the two factions. Small conflicts over contested allods began to erupt and it became clear that a new large-scale conflict loomed on the horizon. Finally, in the year 1008 of the New Era war was officially declared after the discovery of a new allod known as the Holy Land which was sacred to each faction's religion. It remains to be seen who will win this battle, and whether or not the Astral demons are truly gone for good...
